10 things you should know about toxins



I read this article HERE. This is exactly why I have chosen Arbonne as my vehicle to educate people. I was pumping my family and myself full of these toxins because I didn't know any better! 

Here are 10 things I wish every American knew about toxic chemicals… and what we can do about it:

1. Today, you’ve already been exposed to at least 127 unique synthetic chemicals. And that was before you walked out the door. Personal care products carry or may carry numerous highly toxic chemicals, including cadmium, mercury, aluminum and lead.
2. "Acceptable levels" of toxic chemicals is an oxymoron. The levels are “acceptable” by industry and regulatory standards, but our exposure to other “acceptable levels” of toxic chemicals that then interact with each other and dance with our cells within our bodies is never taken into consideration.

Butylated Hydroxynaisole (BHA) is another preservative that’s potentially cancer-causing. Reading labels is an easy solution—if you don’t recognize an ingredient, don’t buy the food product.
8. Organic food can be affordable. Factor in the potential health costs of processed and conventionally grown (read: pesticide rich) foods and organic food doesn’t break the bank. Unfortunately, it’s not always available. The good news: organic food is the fastest growing sector in agriculture. Would we spray a piece of fruit with Raid, then rinse it off and eat it? (Probably not the MBG audience, but it’s a question to ask your skeptical friends and family.) If we continue to vote with our dollars, organic can become the norm.
9. Your body is the biggest investment that you will ever have in your life. We all know people who spend more time and more money on their cars than they do their own bodies. The fuel we put into our bodies will determine how well it performs and fights against the burden of chemicals.

10. Toxic chemicals are everywhere, but you can do something about it. Start with just one thing: change your personal care products; overhaul your diet by buying only organic fruits and vegetables and avoiding processed “foods” as much as possible; throw away your old household cleaning products and replace them with non-toxic ones.

More on that Pea Protein I rave about!

58 lbs and 13.5" LOST!

Detox Boot Camp Results!

My team just finished up our first "official" Detox Boot Camp. I've posted results a few successes that I've seen, here's some results in a group setting!

The boot camp participants (total of 6 people) collectively lost 58lbs and 23 inches in the waist & hips!!! That's crazy right?! Actually, that's just amazing!!

We gave away $100 Arbonne goody bag to the BIGGEST WINNERS in the most weight lost and the most inches lost. Our weight winner lost 13.5lbs and our inches winner lost 8.5"!! Can you believe it?!? Although the detox is more about becoming healthier on the inside, I love that we get to reward people by seeing the numbers drop! Some people don't lose any weight but see a crazy decrease in inches! Great proof of turning fat to muscle and gaining energy along the way!

One of the participants posted the following about her experience with the detox:
"My biggest victory by far was resisting so many yummy treats and food! I had about 5 birthdays this month we celebrated and went out to eat a lot and I had to hold strong a lot and be picky and ask for lots of modifications everywhere we went, but learned I could and be ok! Pure Transformation



 I heard the term Pure Transformation when I started my weight loss journey the end of May. I was hoping I would change physically but what I didn't know is the change that would occur inside and the change in my perspective of life in general. Dealing with postpartum depression with my son and only acknowledging it almost 2 years into it changed who I was and changed how I interacted with people. I was in denial that I had the depression and with the denial was the lack of acknowledgment that my interactions with others changed drastically as well. I was not a happy person but I didn't realize the severity of it.



Fast forward to today, October 5, 2013. I can honestly say that I am going through my own personal Pure Transformation. Through clean eating and changing the way I fuel my body, I have learned that we truly are what we eat! Our mood is directly related with the foods that we intake and I am so thankful that I learned this healthy way of living and a bonus...I am losing weight and inches!

My pure transformation is not about my physical looks, it's about changing my wealth and happiness as well! I am taking control of my life, taking control of my paycheck through a vehicle called Arbonne! I've said it before, I never envisioned myself being a part of network marketing. I never thought I would do the home party thing, but here I am because I BELIEVE in it! I believe in what Arbonne stands for and I believe that it will give me and my family the freedom that we deserve. It's not been a smooth path, but it's a path that I have chosen and will make the most of it. I believe in it because I have personally seen our products change peoples' lives. I get the opportunity to share these products with the world and be a part of people who want to change for the better! After attending training this last weekend, I know that this is not just about me, this about helping others realize their potential and realize that they can have 100% control of their life and finances. I get to watch people grow in ways that they never thought they could imagine! I have seen myself grow in the few short months that I've been on my new journey and I am making a resolution to grow on a daily basis!

My pure transformation is not about the weight I am losing anymore. It's about helping others through their own personal transformation! I'm so excited to step out of my comfort zone and be the leader that I know is hiding out inside. This passion is burning inside me and it's starting to get real hot!!

Back to my weight loss journey real quick...I am 120 days into my journey. I am down 20 pounds total and weigh less than I did before my wedding and before my 2 beautiful kids. (Can't find my measuring tape so can't give a number on the inches.)  I have lost my weight by only changing my eating habits. I know I can't keep this up without exercise so this is my next piece, just trying to figure out how to work it into the busy schedule. It needs to be a priority because I'm ready to complete this transformation but toning up!

Allow your body to feel the way it is designed to feel!

So unfortunately no pictures with this post but honest results! I respect the privacy and only share pictures of clients who give permission!

My first client, Katie completed the 28 day fit program August 21st...just a little late to posting her results! Katie lost a total of 16 lbs in 28 days!! She has loved the program and has continued with the shakes and fiber because she's loved the way she's felt. Here's her testimonial: "This is a detox that real people can do with real families and real schedules...in short it is realistic!" Katie continues with the shakes but has added her daily coffee back in (which she was so excited to do!!) and has added milk back into her diet, making conscious choices of what milk products she uses! 

Bryan also completed the program and also lost a total of 16 lbs! Bryan personally admitted he still has over 100 pounds to lose but because of the drastic results and the way he has felt eating clean, he is continuing the program with the shakes as well and has learned to make better choices for the food he does eat. 90 Days of a healthier ME!

I have just passed my 90 day mark since I chose to become a healthier ME! I had no clue where this journey would take me when I started and I have gotten so much more out of this than the weight change. I truly believe I am the healthiest I have ever been inside and out. Sure I still have some pounds to lose, some toning to do, some muscle building to do, but I am extremely happy with the results thus far! It's not all about how I look on the outside anymore, it's also about what I feel on the inside. The detox truly cleaned me out of toxins I had no clue where trapped inside my body and has shown me that this cleaner way of eating is truly beneficial! Thanks to all who are following me on this journey; I truly hope that I have been an inspiration and I look forward to continuing to help others find their inner peace and shed a few pounds in the process!!

Eeek...ASPARTAME



So I was an avid one a day Diet Pepsi drinker prior to my detox. I LOVED this stuff!! I loved the fizz, the burn, the taste. I've considered giving it up in the past because I notice I wasn't drinking much water when I'd have my Diet Pepsi, but I was never cared to quit drinking it because of what was in it. I was more concerned that I wasn't taking in the calories than I was about taking in the chemicals! Well my thinking has been changed thanks to this detox. I never went into the detox thinking I would "sell" this product, I went into it wanting to lose weight. What I got out of it was EMPOWERMENT. I want to know why things are bad for you, I want to learn alternatives, I want to understand what I am putting in my body and my children's bodies. Am I perfect? Absolutely not, but I am learning and I want to do better and will continue to educate myself and those around me. I'm definitely not naive and know that you can justify any point that you have on the internet, but it's articles like this that has made me turn my own nose to Aspartame. Click here Artificial sweeteners just aren't worth it to me anymore! I'm happy to report that I am soda free for just under 90 days and I honestly don't miss it!

Motivation needed!

My 90 day mark is just around the corner but I really felt I needed some motivation to show me that the discipline and hard work is really starting to pay off, so I gave into taking pictures a few days early! I started using Arbonne's RE9 Advanced Firming Body Cream July 12th and also wanted to see if I can see visual results just one month after using. Well you be the judge? And yes the weight loss is still my continued journey using Arbonne's Fit Essentials!

Why detoxify?

So why detoxify...how does it help you? The following analogy is the best way to describe the detox. Trust me, you feel the difference!

Our body is like a bathtub, the water faucet (brings toxins in); and the drain (lets the toxins out). When it is running at a normal pace, we don’t have as much of a problem. When we are in overload and the drain is plugged, the tub gradually fills up and spills over the sides. This is when people get SICK and you are given a MOP (medicine) which can add more toxins & have side effects. 

We believe most people want to lose weight and feel good but they don’t REALLY understand how to achieve true health & vitality. Toxins are what lock up the fat cells! New Challengers - Ricks family


I'm pleased to introduce you to our next challengers, the Ricks family, Mike and Kathy! Both Mike and Kathy, have an 8 year old son, Lance.
Mike and Kathy are both active in a roller derby league and are part of the steampunk community here in Utah. They are excited for this detox/cleanse program to get their bodies reset and take their active lifestyles to the next level.
They're looking for more energy and less fat to take their derby skills to the next level!

They heard me talk about this program quite a few times and decided to commit themselves to the challenge. They are one week into it and are already showing AMAZING results! The "happy inner me"


I can't think of a better way to call how I felt after my detox. I found the happy inner me that I didn't know was sad. Make sense? I always made excuses for being closed off and not being as happy as I could be about life; work wasn't going well, the kids are a handful, I don't have enough time, I don't have any me time, etc. What I've realized is that I can be happy with today and it's a feeling that I was lacking. Before the detox I had no clue that food could play a role on mood. I knew the physical side effects it could do, but I didn't grasp that you truly are what you consume!

Changing my eating habits to clean eating and detoxing using Arbonne products has changed the way I feel from the inside! Although I was extremely tired the first week of detoxing, it didn't take long to feel the positive effects of releasing the toxins. I can testify that eliminating the toxins from my body simply made me happier, made me feel good on the inside which encourages me to do better on the outside.

This may have been more of a ramble tonight but just wanted to try to explain the feeling! I'm excited to post others results, not just weight loss but to also see if the inner happy me was real or just a psychological change...which isn't bad either!

Wheat is my trigger!

Many of the common foods we eat have negative effects on our body and we chalk it up as "normal." We get used to the reactions that our body may have to these certain foods and learn to deal with it. Did you know that foods you eat can cause drainage, stuffy nose, allergies, bloating, gas?

During the 28 day cleanse, you eliminate the top allergen foods as you're cleaning out your system. After the 28 days, you begin reintroducing the foods back into your diet and you will realize what foods your body doesn't like. Since my detox, I have re-introduced the foods back into my diet. Most I don't have an issue with but I have learned that I am one of the estimated 50% of the population that has some sort of intolerance to gluten! Hmmm...can you guess which day I ate wheat?? I assure you, the above pictures are in no way altered; this is for real. Will I eliminate wheat completely? Probably not, but I will definitely minimize how much I eat it and will remember this when I have that next hot date!!

2 Months Going Strong

What do I notice after 60 days? My clothes fitting differently, random comments from co-workers about dropping the pounds and just simply more confidence. I still have quite a ways to go but I feel like I've set my pace and have more willpower to finish this up. I want that rockin body! I want to be inspiration to others who want to take this journey! I want to see others live healthier and happier lives. I'm still hopeful and excited about this Arbonne adventure...not only for the business side of it, but for what it will do for me on my personal goals!

I have always been self conscious of my skin complexion. I will not leave the house without make-up on. Even though I still don't leave the house without  my make-up on, I would've never taken a picture of me in the past with zero make-up on! I'm so impressed with this skin care line that I am getting more confidence in my natural beauty as well. Maybe this new-found confidence is pretend because of the "happy" feeling I've been experiencing since changing my diet...I'll let you be the judge! It's been 7 weeks now since I started my journey to a healthier and happier me! I'm so excited to see where this journey continues to take me and I can't wait to help others transform their lives as well. I have been really trying to incorporate exercise more into my busy schedule. I've been doing Ballet Blast one to two times a week and running at least once a week as well. I'm at the point where I'm not concerned about the weight number, I'm more interested in the inches continuing to decrease and to start toning up.

September 28 Day Detox Boot Camp

Ok, so you've all been casually following me on this clean eating journey of mine, now's the time to take accountability and make the change for yourself! What a better way to do this for yourself but with a friendly competition!! Tell a friend, spouse, family member, or co-worker about this exciting event and let's make this happen!

These 28 days will jump start a healthier you. My hope is that this becomes a lifestyle change of health and wellness for you. Knowledge is Power! When you know better, you will do better! 28 days are over...now what?!?


So it's been a week since I've completed my 28 day detox program. I cannot stress it enough how much better I feel since I have been putting clean foods into my body. I feel like I "work" the way I'm supposed to work. I have natural energy and "inner positivity." (is that even a something??) What I mean is that I just feel good inside. I want to do better with myself, with my family, with my life. I feel happier more and motivated to better me. I have more energy to get me through the day...and I have been getting less sleep because I have been liking the "me" time at night. I just feel the best I have felt in a long time ok probably ever!

I really haven't had the desire to eat "crappy" food yet. I know I'll get temptations some time but for now I'm maintaining my routine. I have had a few whole wheat sandwiches since stopping the detox and I do feel different when I eat them. My stomach feels fuller...it does go away but to me it's just not worth it to feel that way so I'll eat it sparingly. I figure I have come so far in just 4 weeks, why stop now; why not get to my goal. It's worked this good so far it will only get better right?!?

I have really been pondering on CHANGE these past couple weeks. I want to CHANGE me, CHANGE my family interactions, CHANGE how I view life. I want to get more quality time with my children. I have always said that I am a working girl...and although I 100% still feel that way, I know I can continue that "part" of me but going in a different direction. I am so blessed to find the avenue to go in a different direction and will continue to make the effort to CHANGE ME and help others CHANGE themselves in the process!

Drum Roll Pleeaaassseee....

I heard quite a few times "I couldn't eat that way for a whole month." Well what do you know...a whole month has passed and I'm still standing and feeling much better than I did 28 days ago. No joke! In the world of yo-yo dieting, I have truly found something that I believe will stick and will take me down the road of healthy weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. I realize what it feels like to "feel the way my body is meant to feel" and I'm excited to continue this journey! As mentioned in my previous post, I started a weekly class called Ballet Blast. I did my first class the first week of my detox. It was the hardest class ever, I could barely make it through each of the exercises and had zero energy. I hurt so badly the next day from this intense class. I was thrilled when I went to the class last week and made it through the entire workout without stopping!! At the end of each class, we do plank for about 5  minutes straight. The first week was a complete joke; I could barely hold any of the moves for 20 seconds let alone do the entire section of the class. Last week was INCREDIBLE! I was able to do the entire section without stopping! I still have a long ways to go but I am super excited that I can already tell the difference in just 4 weeks!

So I know you're all patiently waiting for the results so I'll just get to it! :)

 I still have a ways to go but I am so happy with the results and plan to keep up with calorie counting and daily Arbonne protein shakes. When I lost a bunch of weight for my body it started at my face and neck and worked its way down to my booty. I am confident this is how it will happen this go around too. You can see me shrinking at the top. I love being blessed with the extra junk in the trunk...ha ha...I'm ready to be done with that and just be fit and healthy and get rid of the lumps if at all possible!

I will keep you all up on the progress. My goal is to look smoking HOT in this outfit and I am nowhere near that but accountability is step one in reaching whatever goal we set for ourselves and this is my goal. I hope you follow me on my journey and even consider thinking about yourself and take the same leap that I did.

Your mind is stronger than your body!

You know our body and minds are amazing! I recently started to participate in Ballet Blast a cardio ballet class. I've only been 2 times but have loved it every minute of it. Throughout the class, the instructor pushes you to places you didn't think is possible and her words have stuck in my head, "Your mind is stronger than your body!"

Through the 3 weeks of this detox I have come to appreciate this statement. As I've mentioned previously, I started this detox to get my butt in gear to get healthy and lose weight. I had no clue what I was getting myself into, it just sounded right for me. Here I am 3 weeks down and I feel absolutely amazing! I can honestly say that the majority of my cravings have disappeared. My mind is beginning to conquer my body and I truly feel it is because how I am feeling from the inside out. Sure I think about food and I think about eating the "forbidden fruit" but it's strictly out of boredom. Sara and I were talking this week that we really don't feel hungry anymore, even having to remind ourselves to go eat lunch because we're not getting the hunger pangs. I had a pretty stressful day at work last Friday and normally that would be my ticket to a crappy lunch. I said to myself, "I wish I could just go eat ...." and I honestly could not think of something "crappy" that I wanted to indulge in. Please trust me that I am not just saying this to sell you, it is the absolute truth. I have one week left on this detox and I honestly can't think of a "celebration" meal that I want to have.

I'm also not missing my coffee or sodas. If I need a little pick me up, I treat myself to a fizz stick drinkand it gives me the energy without feeling like I've been given the energy. I just feel better and happier, my mind feels a little more clear when I have it and I don't crash like you would with an energy drink. And it's super yummy and fizzy which I do miss about not having a soda here and there!

I have lost a total of 11 lbs in 3 weeks, my belly appears to be going down (you'll have to wait for the results of the inches for one more week!) I have to admit, it is definitely nice seeing the number on the scale go down because it really tells me that I am doing something right and it gives me the motivation to keep pushing through this and 28 days and honestly beyond the 28 days. I saw a post on FB that went something like this: You notice the difference in 4 weeks, your family/friends notice the difference in 8 weeks, and the world notices the difference in 12 weeks. Keep it up!!! I'm honestly going to keep this up because I know it will give me the results that I am looking for.

I can't say it enough how passionate I have become about this program and I hope my journey inspires you to take the plunge and do this for yourself. You are worth it! I want to be there with you for your journey and promise you that it is worth it...28 days is nothing when it comes to feeling good!

Let the cleanse begin

So halfway through this thing...it truly is flying by...I'm serious! Started the cleanse today for 7 days. My sponsor wasn't kidding when she said this stuff was not very tasty! Anyone want a jolt of prune juice, ok jolt is not the right word since you have to drink 32 ounces of it! 2nd day was much tougher to swallow than the first but the today, 3rd day, was no sweat. Also no change elsewhere in the body like people have been joking about. I have to pee more often but everything else is just as normal!! ;)

So I have to give a shout out to Rob and Sara for doing this journey with me! It's one thing to have the motivation to get your butt in gear on your own but there's something to having a support system behind you when you take a leap...even if it's a small one! I'm so excited we're taking this journey together and I can't wait to see what clean eating will do for all of us!!

I got permission to post Sara's stats...once we see her killer results, I may be able to convince her to allow me to post the before and after pictures as well!

Week one down!

So one week has come and gone. To be honest it went by rather quickly. I struggled with energy for the first week but day 8 came and I honestly didn't even notice! Before I started this, I was a cup of coffee a day girl with at least one Diet Pepsi most days so I really thought I would struggle more with the lack of caffeine. Who would've known if you put good stuff into your body, you somehow manage!

Here's the meals we have been enjoying this week:

Chicken and broccoli stir-fry with brown rice spaghetti noodles
I used a little bit of olive oil and coconut oil with some fresh garlic as my sauce. It was scrumptious!

Chicken fajitas with black beans on a brown rice tortillas
I used my own mix of seasoning, cajun pepper, red pepper, garlic powder and paprika. It was a tad spicy but still very flavorful and tasty. The rice tortillas are ok. The texture is very different from flour tortillas. Rob wasn't a huge fan but would eat it. I think maybe frying them in a little bit of olive oil and treating them like a tostado may be good. Hey...got a whole month to try it!

I weighed myself on day 7 and game weighed in at 142.8...about 4 lbs down in one week! Yes I know it's mostly water weight but it's nice to see results that quickly!

I've mastered the shakes and actually enjoy drinking them! I mix about a 1/8 cup of strawberries, a scoop of vanilla protein mix, a scoop of chocolate, a scoop of fiber, a 1/2 tsp of almond butter or coconut oil, mix in the food processor the night before and got my two meals the next day!

Day 1 - May 28, 2013

Ok holiday is over, BBQ fun has come and gone. Time to get on track with this healthy living!

Had a shake for breakfast and lunch. Not bad! Mixed about 1/4 cup strawberries, 4oz Coconut Milk (unsweetened), 1 scoop of Arbonne chocolate protein, 1 scoop of vanilla, 1 scoop of Arbonne fiber supplement, and 1/2 Tbs of almond butter. Blend it my food processor and enjoy!

Dinner:
Sauteed chicken, then added broccoli and cauliflower. Seasoned with curry, basil, black pepper and maybe a few other spices. Chicken was a little dry and lacked flavor so we'll step it up a bit next time.
Boiled lentil beans with rosemary, bay leaves, and onion. First time ever making lentil beans and they were pretty yummy if I say so myself. I let them cook slightly too long but they were still yummy. Made way too much though!!

First day was a success, was able to make up for the lack of coffee with a couple Arbonne fizz sticks and running around with the kids. I think this will be the hardest part for me though!

The area that frustrates me is my mid section. Growing up I always had that flat tummy no matter what the rest of me looked like. I know my softness comes from my sweet little babies so I'm not complaining, just done with the way I look. Why am I here?

After my sweet Samillya was born, I wanted to get back into a healthy lifestyle. I did so well getting healthy and fit before our wedding and loved how great I felt. Having kids changes everything...from how you eat, when you eat, what time you have to work out...if you get to work out...it's just so different. The main thing I did for the wedding was put myself on a strict 1200 calorie diet and picked up running a few times a week. I felt awesome! Food pretty much became a necessity to me and I truly did get rid of a lot of cravings for the bad food. Don't get me wrong I still had cheat meals here and there but I lost of 30 lbs and felt and looked the best that I ever have.

Fast forward 4 years now! Two beautiful children, a full time job and a desire to get back to being healthy. I was doing ok here and there, trying to make better choices, trying to count calories, but I just couldn't find the thing that motivated me! I want to do it and know I can do it, but needed to find a way to jump start my way back to being healthy and feeling great.
